Rapport sur Japan Expo Paris 2025

Du 3 au 6 juillet, nous avons eu le grand plaisir de participer à Japan Expo Paris 2025, qui s’est tenue à Paris.
Contrairement à l’édition précédente marquée par la fraîcheur, cette année la ville a connu une véritable vague de chaleur. Le 2 juillet, jour de préparation, nous avons installé notre stand sans climatisation, en transpirant abondamment, mais avec la joie profonde de pouvoir partager la culture japonaise.

Tout au long de l’événement, notre stand WABI SABI a attiré de nombreux passionnés de culture japonaise. Les visiteurs étaient fascinés par nos armures de samouraï et nos répliques de sabres japonais. Certains restaient silencieux devant l’armure, d’autres prenaient un sabre dans leurs mains, réfléchissant longuement avant de faire leur choix.

Un jeune homme, après avoir comparé plusieurs fois un miroir de poche et un coupe-papier en forme de sabre, a souri et dit : 「Je prends le coupe-papier. 」 Une petite fille, quant à elle, serrait un magnet gravé contre son cœur en disant à ses parents : 「Ce sera mon trésor」　, avant de passer à la caisse. Leurs visages illuminés montraient combien ces objets représentaient plus qu’un simple souvenir.

Beaucoup ont également apprécié prendre des photos devant les armures et les sabres, certains adoptant une pose sérieuse comme de véritables samouraïs, d’autres souriant avec leurs amis ou en famille. Ces instants semblaient les transporter dans un autre temps et resteront à coup sûr des souvenirs inoubliables.

Nos répliques de sabres japonais ont rencontré un immense succès, aussi bien auprès des hommes que des femmes. De nombreux visiteurs nous ont même salués en japonais, en disant 「arigatou」 ou 「 sayonara 」. Certains parlaient avec une aisance remarquable, presque comme des locuteurs natifs. Une famille venue de Grèce est revenue quatre jours de suite, choisissant chaque fois un nouvel objet, ce qui nous a profondément touchés.

👉 Grâce à cette exposition, nous avons eu la chance de vivre de très belles rencontres et d’échanger avec des passionnés venus du monde entier. Nous remercions du fond du cœur toutes celles et ceux qui ont visité notre stand et qui ont choisi d’emporter un peu du Japon avec eux. Report on Japan Expo Paris 2025

From July 3rd (Thu) to July 6th (Sun), we participated in Japan Expo Paris 2025, held in Paris, France.
Unlike last year’s chilly weather, Paris welcomed us with heat wave. Especially on the preparation day (July 2nd), we set up our booth without air conditioning, drenched in sweat, but filled with the joy of being able to share Japanese culture.

Throughout the exhibition, our WABI SABI booth attracted many fans of Japanese culture. Visitors were fascinated by our displays of samurai armor and Japanese sword replicas. Some stood silently, gazing at the armor, while others carefully held the swords in their hands, contemplating before making their choice.

One young man compared a hand mirror and a paper-knife shaped like a Japanese sword several times, finally smiling and saying, “I’ll take the paper knife.” A little girl tightly held a engraving magnet in her hand, telling her parents, “This will be my treasure,” before taking it to the casher. Their delighted expressions as they found their favorite items showed how deeply they connected with Japanese culture.

Many visitors also enjoyed taking photos in front of the armor and swords, striking serious poses like real samurai, or smiling brightly with their friends and families. These moments seemed to transport them back in time, becoming unforgettable memories of the event.

The Japanese sword replicas, in particular, were very popular among both men and women. Many visitors even spoke in Japanese when leaving, saying “arigatou” or “sayonara.” Some spoke fluently, almost like native speakers. A family from Greece visited our booth four days in a row, which left a strong impression on us.

Through this exhibition, we had the privilege of many encounters and meaningful exchanges. We sincerely thank everyone who visited our booth and those who purchased our products. Your smiles and warm words encourage us to continue sharing the beauty of Japanese culture with the world.

What is a "Torii (鳥居)"?

A Torii is a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of Shinto shrines.
It marks the boundary between the ordinary world and the sacred space of the shrine.

The structure usually consists of two upright posts and two horizontal beams.
Many Torii are painted in bright vermilion red（＊Urushi Lacquer＊）, while others are left in natural wood or made of stone.

Passing through a Torii means you are entering a place where people come to pray to the gods (called kami in Japanese).

A Warm Welcome to SCENIC ECLIPSE II Passengers at Marine Port Kagoshima

　On Saturday morning, June 14th, SCENIC ECLIPSE II docked at Marine Port Kagoshima with around 200 passengers on board.

　Despite the rainy weather, the guests seemed to enjoy their time exploring Kagoshima in their own unique ways.

　We set up a sales booth inside the cruise terminal to welcome everyone. Many of the visitors were from Australia, and we had the pleasure of chatting with them about their first impressions of Kagoshima. I also had a lovely time sharing stories from my own trip to Sydney this past February.

　It was a brief but meaningful exchange—we truly enjoyed connecting with our guests from across the ocean!

Displaying Samurai Armor in Vietnam – The Legacy of Tokugawa Ieyasu

　This suit of samurai armor replica, known as Kin-Dami Gusoku, is said to have been worn by Tokugawa Ieyasu, one of Japan’s most influential shoguns. It was proudly installed in the main lobby of the Vietnam Television (VTV) headquarters in Hanoi, creating a striking visual presence that connects Vietnamese viewers to the spirit of Japanese heritage.

　The armor was presented to VTV as a cultural gift from a Japanese construction firm that had completed the work on the building. Wanting to offer something uniquely Japanese at the official handover, the company selected an authentic reproduction of traditional samurai armor.

　Our team was honored to travel to Hanoi to assemble and install the armor onsite. A custom showcase was crafted locally in Vietnam specifically for this project, ensuring the armor would be beautifully and safely displayed.

　The handover ceremony drew attention, but it was the reaction of everyday visitors that truly stood out—many stopped in awe, taking photos and admiring the intricate craftsmanship. The display has become a cultural highlight within the building, bridging history, diplomacy, and art.

　The kabuto is a traditional Japanese helmet worn by samurai warriors from the 10th century onward. Originally designed for protection in battle, it evolved into a symbol of status, identity, and inner strength. Each helmet’s intricate design reflected the warrior's clan, values, and personal resolve.

　Beyond its practical use, the kabuto represented the samurai spirit—a code of ethics rooted in honor (義 gi), loyalty (忠 chū), courage (勇 yū), and self-discipline. The fierce and often majestic appearance of the kabuto was intended not only to intimidate enemies, but also to remind the wearer of their moral duty.

　Even today, the kabuto is admired not just as a piece of armor, but as a profound expression of the dignity, restraint, and spiritual strength that defined the samurai way of life.
